This dissertation aims to explore another form of architecture. It represents an initial pooling of knowledge, techniques and vernacular practices, which are conscious of the environment and ecosystems, showcasing local expertise and helping to integrate people into their surroundings. Through six case studies, we explore admirable examples of vernacular architecture, six interpretations that allow us to identify the principles, technologies, materials and practices worth developing for a more sustainable, long-lasting and environmentally-friendly architecture.
