“Saving the oceans is saving humanity.” Maud Fontenoy.The sea regulates the climate, providing over 50% of the oxygen we breathe and feeding over 3.5 billion people. According to many scientists, including Maud Fontenoy and Deborah Cracknell, it is the solution to climate disruption. And yet this, the earth’s blue lung, is under threat from humans.This is why, inspired by Emmanuel Bonnet’s speech on the obsolescence of new technological innovations, I use this dissertation to highlight solutions based on the cultural and ancestral values of Oceanic populations, fundamental friends of the ocean.MOANA represents a journey into the heart of the Pacific, conveying a philosophy on life and Polynesian expertise to save the oceans.
