Disco is not dead. Origins and Legacy of Discotheques

They are spaces that bring people together, where bodies are synchronised to the beat of the music. The shadows sculpted by the multicoloured spotlights begin to shape a limitless world in the middle of the night. These places have a name: discotheques. For decades,societies have gone out at night, finding and creating spaces in which to come together, dance, get drunk and escape daily limits. But in the past few years they have become increasingly rare, appearing to suggest the end of an era.Through this dissertation, you will discover the origins of the night club and the legacy left behind by some of them, with a view to answering the question: “IS DISCO DEAD?”
