Le Trabendo, a concert venue and club, and Kermès, a guinguette or open-air café, are two of the follies or “Folies” in La Villette park. In June, they are joining forces to put on an Italian festival called Villettecittà. In order to tackle the different issues arising from it (environmental, financial, scenographic), our work seeks to give visitors an immersive experience in a reinterpreted Italy teeming with imagery. We employ a simple, tried and tested technique, scaffolding, which is used as a skeleton, partially covered with tarpaulins. A graphic treatment is used to reinterpret the architectural codes of Tuscany to create the illusion of one of the region's piazzas. The festival programme and its uses will be directly incorporated into the structures.
