Marseille is a dynamic and changing city in which different cultures abound, ones it has been home to since ancient times, but this abundance is also the source of violence and racism. It had a reputation for being a violent city, until young people harnessed hip-hop culture from New York, propellingMarseille into the spotlight. My project turns the Cité Radieuse into the home of hip-hop dance. Le Corbusier designed the circulationareas as “streets”, which inspired me to design an urban space that artists, residents and visitorscan make their own: main square, small squares, alleyways, avenues and walkways create a new lexical field for the street that emerges on the third and fourth floors of the Cité Radieuse and officially becomesLa Maison du Fada.
