Far removed from all the diamanté and sequins, disco actually emerged from a 70s New York ravaged by drugs, social inequality and riots. This project tells the story of a musical movement that succeeded in bringing communities together in a divided world. This scenography offers a dual interpretation based on an “exterior” and an “interior”. The exhibition is built around the notion of boundary, of the transition between two worlds that seem diametrically opposite. This porous yet opaque, light and dark marking is an in-between space, a blurry demarcation of two nevertheless indissociable worlds. This framework looks like a dancefloor that is no longer on the ground, but instead covering the walls. Visitors are encouraged to follow it for the duration of a song.
