Space is filled with constraints. How can we design spaces that maintain the health and optimal performance of a crew? To be able to do more than simply “survive” in space, we must create environments that contribute positively to the crew’s well-being throughout the months or years of their missions. And with more and more astronauts travelling, it is important that our surroundings offer more than the cramped mechanical interiors of the International Space Station, which currently represents the most state-of-the-art environment for long-term human life in space.
