When a client calls on an architect, they entrust them with organising their inner space. A bond of trust and mistrust is forged between them. The architect’s role is not unlike the psychologist’s, attempting to understand their client’s expectations and how to approach the client in order to find out more. What are their ideal atmospheres? What mental images are they guided by? This unique connection becomes material for experimentation. Through an evolving questionnaire that tackles the subject in an offbeat way, I attempt to access the stories that clients tell themselves. Each personality makes me think of a place. This experimentation gives rise to narrative architectures with ideal atmospheres, between the custom and the utopian interpretation.
