We are in a period of transition between excessive consumption and sustainable production. It is essential that consumers and companies take responsibility to encourage more sustainable and responsible consumption. The “third industrial revolution” put forward by Jeremy Rifkin encourages forms of production distributed on a local scale, but this is simply one step of many towards improving the environment and quality of life.
